Candidate for RPL | A person working towards a National Qualification using RPL |
Competence | Ability to perform at the required level as stated in the unit standard or qualification. |
Critical Cross Field Outcomes (CCFOs) | Life skills that are contained in every unit standard and qualification. You need to give your assessor evidence to show that you are competent at these as well. |
Cross referencing | Action of tying your evidence into the requirements of the unit standards or the qualifications. Involves stating where in your evidence the assessor will find prove that you are competent. |
Direct Observation | An assessor’s observation of a candidate’s on-the-job or simulated performance |

National Qualification | A nationally recognised qualification made up of a collection of unit standards |

South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) | Body responsible for registering the qualifications and unit standards on the National Qualifications Framework. See www.saqa.org.za |
Third form of evidence | Any evidence presented by the learner that is not created by the assessor. The assessor will create the knowledge test and/or experiential assessment activities and/or a project. |
