Self Study RPL for agents and principals Now that bursaries are in short supply many agents and principals have realised that they have to make a start and fund the RPL process themselves. The reality is that time is fast running out and the 31 December 2011 deadline is actually very close from an academic perspective. Agents and principals are therefore starting to fund the RPL process themselves. To assist with reducing fees, Prior Learning Centre has launched a self-study RPL process that allow enrolled learners to work on their own, in the comfort of their own homes or offices. The self-study pack includes a knowledge navigator with all of the RPL tools, support materials and administration and three DVDs. The DVDs contain video and powerpoint slides with audio to assist agents/principals to walk themselves through the RPL process setp-by-step. Each question is discussed by assessors and there are hints and tips for completing your portfolio on time. Contact Debbie (debbie@rpl.co.za) for details of costs and payment options and make a start today - tine is running out. The self-study option is also ideal for small offices - all agents can enrol together, view the DVDs togeher and work simultaneously on the RPL, motivating eacxh other in the process. One, large, national estate agency is using this self-study model and it is allowing them to get over 300 agents through the process each month and a fraction of the cost of traditional RPL. Principal exemptions Agent exemptions RPL for estate agents and principals The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has regulated that all estate agents and principals must complete an RPL process to earn a real estate qualification by December 2011. Agents and principals who do not earn the full qualification through RPL will then have until 31 December 2013 to fill in any gaps in their knowledge. The agents will be required to earn the Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Real Estate at NQF 4 and the principals will be required to earn the NQF 5 Certificate in Real Estate or the NQF 5 Generic Management: Real Estate. Agents and principals with relevant working experience may earn their qualification through RPL. Prior Learning Centre was the first RPL centre to be accredited for the new FECT Real Estate NQF 4 by the Services SETA. Click here to download an information sheet produced by the EAAB explaining the new education requirements. Prior Learning Centre has divided the full FETC qualification for agents into four clusters (skills programmes). Click here to download this fact sheet. A full workshop schedule is available on request. The principal's qualification (General Management NQF 5 - 24493) is also divided into clusters for easy completion. Email debbie@rpl.co.za for more information on the principals RPL process or click here. Prior Learning Centre recently travelled around the country with the Services SETA and the Estate Agency Affairs Board to present RPL to the industry. The RPL information slides that were used on this road show are available - email karen@rpl.co.za for a copy. |
